Guidance on bills:-
If you are full time students, you do not pay Council Tax. The main bills will be for water, electric & gas. All are metered so they depend on how much you use and how much the energy companies put their charges up to.

I find that most students use a lot of water & electric because they run washing machine, cook & use computers & lights as if they were all separate households. How much you use depends on who you share with, not on the house itself.

Gas bills depend mostly on how energy efficient the house & boiler are & how much you use it (which depends on how cold the winter is & how well insulated & heated the house is). This house has an energy efficient combi gas boiler & electric shower, which means that water is only heated when needed & the central heating is relatively cheap to run. The double glazing is recent & efficient.

Energy bills are lower if you pay by monthly direct debit, which also allows you to spread the cost (bills are generally higher during the winter months).

For a 12 month let (where the summer balances out the winter), for 5 people sharing bills, I suggest you allow around £12 per week per person for all these bills, depending on whether you expect to use a lot or not, & monitor it. It is possible to be careful & have lower bills; & also possible for bills to be a lot higher, so this is only a guide to give you an idea. For houses further from campus, you may also need to allow for transport costs.
